Hi there! We’re Sam & Paige.

We both share deep roots in Traverse City, which is exactly what brought us together. However, our military service quickly took us on a journey across the globe, with tours stretching from Japan to Hawaii. Moving frequently and experiencing new cultures taught us a lot about what makes a space feel truly welcoming. Living worldwide showed us the incredible value of thoughtful, intentional hospitality—but it also reinforced a deeper truth: no matter how beautiful the destination, there is truly no place like home.

Returning to Northern Michigan

After our service, we knew exactly where we wanted to put down roots. We returned to our hometown of Traverse City to raise our two daughters, Grace and Lily. Coming back gave us a fresh perspective on what makes Northern Michigan so special—and inspired us to share it with others.

We operate KOTI out of our deep love for Traverse City, a passion for travel, and a desire to connect with new people. Having lived and traveled around the world, we wanted to provide accommodations that combine clean, clutter-free Scandinavian design with the warmth of genuine local hospitality.
